It seems to me that a decentralized schooling system would be the ideal of a Zion society. That means that each family would home school their children. However, of the various techiques for learning, two methods stand out as the best: the Robinson Curriculum and the Montessori Method.
If the Robinson Curriculum is used, each family would be equipped with the Robinson Curriculum CD-Roms, a top-notch printer, a good computer and plenty of paper and ink, as well as all the Saxon Math books. The cost and effort involved would be minimal.
If the Montessori Method is used, costs would increase and more co-operation would be needed to make it work. A sytem, in which each parent could be taught the Montessori method of teaching and then have access to all the Montessori material they needed would be essential.
A central school depository could be created, in which each family could check out, like library material, the Montessori material they would be using for the day or week. A Montessori school fund and an Education Council could be created to oversee the supplying of this depository. Additionally, funds could be apportioned so that each of the parents would go to school to get accreditation in Montessori teaching methods.
The Education Council would not only have the responsibility for staffing and stocking the grammar school depository, but also could initiate a higher learning center for the adults to learn. This higher learning center could be part of the same grammar school depository, or could be separate.
Ideally, each of these learning centers would stress the learning of knowledge and wisdom by faith and study, by the gifts and powers of the Holy Ghost and by visions, dreams, angelic ministrations and revelations, as well as prophecies. Prayer circle areas, whereby all those engaged in learning could unite in prayer to gain the inspiration and powers of heaven, because of their faith, to assist them in learning their lessons, could also be organized.
