- FOOD
- CLOTHING
- SHELTER
- TRANSPORTATION
- ENERGY (ELECTRICITY)
These five needs I think everyone will agree are needed by everyone in modern societies, so I've already taken the liberty of making them their own boards of discussion.

I just thought about the fact that as long as any Zion society is dependent upon Babylonian money, we will be controlled by it. Therefore, it seems to me that having a separate monetary supply, a stable currency, one that is preferably based upon the gold or silver standard, is something that would be important. I will leave this up to a vote. Should I create another need category of monetary supply?
In the meantime, I will add in the Technology section a thread about the Liberty Dollar, which I believe would supply this need adequately.

I don't know why I didn't include this in my list of five, making it a list of six. Without water, there is no life. If the city pipes break or the city water becomes contaminated, if it never rains, if there is no river or stream or lake or ocean or well nearby, how in the world does one come by water?
Babylon, of course, makes money off of water but they also put additives in the drinking water, such as fluoride, which some studies indicate makes the population easier to control, as well as doing other nefarious things.
If there is suddenly a water shortage, those who have the money to pay for it will get it, those that don't will die.
There is no need for a poll on this, I think that everyone will agree that water is a need that should be listed. I will put up a thread on this need.

What about personal hygiene and household needs? Does that need its own section or would those items fall under another category? Also, what about medical needs?

In regards to needing money -- are there states that don't collect a property tax? One can never own their land so long as the state collects this.

Why do we even need money?

Maybe NO electricity!
Recently read a book entitled, "Surviving Off Off-Grid" written by a good Christian man from Texas.
He makes an interesting argument that it was the arrival of electricity that brought about the economic bondage of we Americans. Prior to that, the vast majority of people lived on farms where they provided for most of their own needs. No mortgages, no monthly bills, no credit cards. No wage slavery.
Honestly, I don't think having electricity will destroy a Zion society--having to pay for it with Babylon's money, would. Nothing wrong with setting up United Efforts (cooperatives) to generate free electricity for everyone.

Reading an economic history of the Mormons helped me see how crucial economic unity is to the establishment of a Zion society. For decades the Saints in Utah acted like one giant family making sure everyone's temporal needs were provided. One example is how the fast offering was instituted during a famine in order that those who literally had NO food to eat, would survive.
Babylon's economy is based on: 1. Assumed scarcity, 2. Competition with your neighbors for those "scarce" resources, and 3. Trade - exchanges of value ("you can buy anything in this world with money")
Babylon's economy is literally Darwin's survival of the fittest applied to the provision of needs. The question is "How am I going to get what I need to survive (regardless of how it affects others)?"
Conversely, Zion's economy is likely based on: 1. An abundance mentality ("there is plenty and to spare") 2. Cooperation with your neighbors for the provision of needs, and 3. Gifting - blessing the lives of others with your time and talents (being "familiar with all and free with your substance").
I suspect Zion's economy is a "we're-all-in-this-together" family-like approach to the provision of temporal needs. The question is "How are we all going to provide food, clothing and shelter for ourselves". An example would be how the Saints in the 1860s through the 1880s created cooperatives to provide themselves with hats, shoes, cloth, brooms, wagons, farm implements, and everything else they might need. These "United Effort" cooperatives were very successful and gave Brigham Young the courage to attempt to establish the United Orders.
So, what I'm saying is that everyone in a Zion society needs economic unity.

electricity will be destroyed soon anyways. a comet, or even the sun could cause a massive EMP that would fry all electronics. also, electronics are not like living creatures, they are assembled piece by piece they do not grow according to a plan of god, they act like they are alive and have souls, but we know they dont have them, and they stop functioning when you baptize them. sounds like they run on demon power, and considering that almost every video game matches a tibetan buddhist description of hell to a terrifying exactness (running around killing demons and monsters, gathering loot and money, unlimited lives and deaths, no memory of what happened before you died, just doing it over and over and over, and no way to really win, just get to have your name on the top of the highscore list) and that the internet has just become one giant porn archive, i think its safe to say god will give us something better than electronics once he shows up again
