www.monolithicdome.comMonolithic Domes are easy to build, extremely energy efficient, imprevious to hurricanes, tornadoes and other stormy weather, are solidly built of shotcrete and rebar and will resist earthquakes or even just a truck crashing into the building, require few people to construct, and, depending upon the size, can be considered a very low cost housing option. Additionally, IMO, they are beautiful and have a different indoor feel to them because they are domes. The Monolithic Dome Institute gives classes on how to build them, has dome plans, has ready-made domes that can be shipped, gives out the names of local dome builders, etc. This type of house is my personal favorite.
