A United Effort can mint its own private currency by using the Zcoins Network (www.zcoins.net). Zcoins come in 4 precious metals: gold, silver, platinum and palladium, as well as non-precious copper. There are 40 sizes to choose from, 8 sizes for each of the 5 metals. There are private die owners and distributors. Each private die owner can mint as many pieces as he or she wishes or can rent out his or her dies to a distributor for a percentage of the minting operation (for example, 1 Zcoin for every 100 Zcoins that is minted.) The distributors and die owners negotiate the rental price among themselves. Each die owner follows a standard design, but the image found on the obverse of each Zcoin is up to that individual die owner. Other embellishments can be added. Both die owners and distributors can be listed on the zcoins.net web site, so that people can find, mint and trade Zcoinage. Die owners pick the minting company of their choice. All in all, Zcoins sounds like a fantastic idea.
Anyone can become a die owner and anyone can become a distributor. The cost to become a die owner is one troy ounce of 999 or 9999 fine silver. The cost to become a distributor is one troy ounce of 999 or 9999 silver. If someone wanted to be both a die owner and a distributor, they'd pay 2 troy ounces of 999 or 9999 silver. That's pretty cheap. The only other costs involved would be the actual manufacturing of the dies (for die owners) and the minting run costs (for distributors.) However, both of these costs are purchases of private property. (The die owners become owners of the dies and the distributors become owners of the Zcoins.)
Concerning Images
As the die owners decide what images will be on their Zcoin dies, a United Effort can create its own religious-based private currency, with religious images on the Zcoinage. United Effort members could exclusively exchange their goods and services among each other using Zcoinage, as the free market determines the value of each piece in goods and services, but there is the possibility that non-United Effort members will also want to exchange their goods and services for these pieces. There are a lot of Christian churches out there who would take a liking to using precious metal (and non-precious metal) money with Jesus Christ, their professed King, on the piece, or other religious image. Or, if businesses do not readily accept it, private exchanges would undoubtedly take place, such as garage sales, off-the-books services, etc.
Until a minting operation is set up to mint Zcoins, the Canadian Maple Leafs and the Mexican Libertads can be used. Paper money, from the onset, should be discouraged, until wherehouse receipts for Zcoinage can be set up.

There are private mints available whereby one can take gold or silver or copper or bronze (or whatever metal) and mint pieces. The United Effort simply has to settle on a company, on a design, and then go about making purchases and distributing the pieces among the members of the United Effort.
