I saw this on television this past week and looked it up on the Internet. These are miniature windmills (turbines) that can be placed in really small places, such as apartment building rooftops, to generate electricity and offset some of the energy costs. They apparently can survive hurricane force winds and can generate electricity with very little wind blowing. They were invented by Lucien Gambarota of Motorwave. Ltd. working with reseachers at Hong Kong University. The Hong Kong Sea School apparently has already installed these devices on their campus. The World Wildlife Fund's Hoi Ha Marine Reserve had plans of doing the same. (I don't know whether those plans were fulfilled.) The turbines can be purchased by clicking here.

My husband has designed a turbine that sits on top of a roof. It uses the rising heat from withing the roof and also wind power to create electricity.
